International Radioastronomical Observatory "Suffa" (IRAO) |

After a long period of extensive negotiations between Russia and Uzbekistan an Agreement was signed on July 27, 1995 between Governments of the two states establishing "The International Radioastronomical Observatory "Suffa" sponsored by both States. The duration of the Agreement is 99 years.
The Agreement is open for joining by other States, international organizations, national scientific institutions or personalities from third states.
The Agreement provides a legal basis for the continuation of the construction of the 70-m Suffa radiotelescope which will belong to the International Radioastronomical Observatory "Suffa" (IRAO).
